1,000 Workshops for Women’s Mental Fitness… an Epic Milestone We’re Celebrating

When some people think of Gotcha4Life, they think of sport-loving blokes, learning to talk about their feelings and look out for one another. Why’s that? Because our founder, Gus Worland, is the epitome of that: a much-loved guy who has worked hard to help Australian men to open up and have healthier conversations about the ups and downs of life with their mates, and their village.

What some people don’t know is that Gotcha4Life works equally hard to create a culture where women are encouraged to have those same honest conversations - and to equip women with the tools to be their authentic selves, while building their mental fitness, while being a Gotcha4Life mate to their mates.

We’re passionately focused on inspiring and educating people about mental fitness, and relentlessly pursuing a suicide-free future.  One thing we are very clear on is that this is about everyone

When it comes to women, one way we take action is via our deep and lasting partnership with Tomorrow Woman, whose programs reignite girls and women around Australia with their innate voice, empowering them to confidently express their needs and opinions in the moments that matter. Tomorrow Woman workshops unpack what it means to be a modern woman, where we learn how to be women and the social messages that surround womanhood.

Having recently reached the epic milestone of 1000 workshops is something we want to celebrate! Only 5 short years ago, the idea of running over a thousand workshops where tens of thousands of women and girls could start to powerfully build their mental fitness in schools, sports clubs, and communities was just that, an idea - a dream.

As Paige, Tomorrow Woman Founder recently reflected “When we hit 1000 workshops a couple of weeks ago, I was speechless. It still blows my mind almost daily that there is now a team of incredible humans across the country running this work in so many different rooms where women gather - and a team working their butts off in the background to make it all happen.

“I feel so lucky and grateful that these people rock up every day willing to do the work to change the lives of women across Australia. Some days it can feel like we still have so far to go and that there is so much to do but knowing that we are lucky enough to be in a position to begin a conversation makes me feel genuinely hopeful for the different life future generations will have.”

We couldn’t agree more with Paige’s sentiments on this topic - there is still so much work to be done, and as Gus says, we celebrate these epic milestones for a New York minute before we get back to work - every dollar raised, every workshop attended, every social media post read and liked brings us that little bit closer.
